While it is the smallest state capitol in the U.S., Montpelier remains an active arts and entertainment center, is home to the New England Culinary Institute and offers a real sense of community. Best Choice Reviews chose Montpelier as the #1 Small Downtown in America. The town’s beautiful and historic buildings, festivals and special events make it a wonderful place to live and visit. Try some freshly tapped maple syrup or homemade cheese when you come! Montpelier is a great town for outdoor activities, a bike path follows the Winooski River, there are 200 acres of trails and miles of challenging cross country skiing and hiking in North Branch River Park, and Hubbard Park offers amazing views of the surrounding area and is very close to the State House.
